The IEEE Smart and Circular Cities Special Technical Community (STC) is an open
international community of stakeholders in the technological area of Smart and Circular Cities.
It aims to address technologies, systems, applications and services in the Smart and Circular
Cities domain. A goal is for the STC to become a strong committee in the field, enabling the
Computer Society to become a leading authority in the field. The vision is to become a
technological leader and a one-stop source of reliable information for quadruple helix
stakeholders, including academia, government, industry and the general public.

Mission
The mission of the STC is to address the growing need for technological innovation as well as
for information and knowledge dissemination relatively to the Smart and Circular Cities
domain as expressed by the quadruple helix community, including academia / research,
government / policy makers, industry, and civil society / general public. Addressing the needs
of the domain in a holistic way will help determine solutions, technologies, tools and frameworks needed for human-centered well-being-enabling systems at city level.
